I hope you will nominate yourself to be the next KCRADE president so that you can attend this leadership conference in two years. I found it very enlightening, motivating and fun.
Networking has never been my strong point. I usually find myself in a small group of individuals who know each other. They share common experiences and their conversations are interesting but I have a hard time knowing how to participate. I usually find myself on the fringe -- just listening and feeling way out of my comfort zone.
The Leadership Conference was an interesting networking experience because the attendees were just the Chapter Presidents and chairpersons of the specialty groups -- each person was there without a group of friends. At most conferences, when I enter the room and try to find a seat at a round table, there will be a group of 4-6 friends and one or two open seats, or if there are a group of seats -- they are being 'saved' for groups of friends. At this conference -- there were no groups of friends -- we were each there alone -- which made it so much easier to begin conversations and include everyone at the table. I really enjoyed that aspect.
One of the most prominent messages seemed to be -- a call for nominations. Who is in the pipeline being mentored for leadership? Please step forward - self nomination is a great adventure. I'd like to hear from you.
